About

Joseph Clarke Photography

I have been a passionate music fan since I was thirteen and through working in photography I have found a great joy in shooting music.  The main body of my work revolves around shooting live performances but more recently I have taken to doing shoots both on location and in the studio with bands and some have even granted me access to their rehearsal spaces and recording sessions.

In a live setting I am trying to take a photograph that captures the energy and emotion of the performance, trying to capture the musician in the midst of their performance and their interaction with each other onstage and also of the audience and how they react to the music.  Lighting for me is an important element of live music concerts as I feel that it adds to the atmosphere of the performance.  More recently I have done shoots for some bands and have been granted access in some bands’ rehearsal spaces and in the studio as they record and work on their music.  I find this to be a great experience and feel that this documenting of them in this setting is a sign of trust between myself, and the artists.

The use of digital photography has enabled me the ease of taking photographs in an environment of lighting that can be difficult to shoot in as they can change in seconds from one colour to the other and from low to high levels of lighting.

As well as music photography I have also done other events, portraits pets, still water and architecture.  Anyone wishing to contact can do so on the information below
